Federal Tax Credits For Energy Efficient Investments

As the home improvement season moves into high gear, many retailers, contractors and others are espousing the benefits of the various energy related tax credits that have recently been enacted and/or extended for 2009 and beyond. The Department of Energy, through the Energy Star program has provided answers to many of the practical questions surrounding these credit programs at their website: www.energystar.gov/taxcredits.  There you can find information on which products qualify, how to determine the amount of the credit and how to document and claim the credit on your tax return.
